Ultrasound KUB

Patient must come with a full bladder.

Lipid Profile

For this 12 hrs overnight fasting is required.

Fasting Samples

For all fasting samples 10-12 hrs of fasting is advisable. Fasting samples are required in various tests. Please refer to directory of tests for further information.

PP Sugar Samples

For all PP samples, sample is taken between 1 hr 45 min and 2 hrs after completion of breakfast/lunch/75g of sugar.

Sputum Culture

Sample must be collected in a sterile container. The test should ideally be done prior to starting antibiotics. Alternately, antibiotics must be stopped 24 - 48 hrs prior to sample collections

Echo Cardiography

Patient should come with old records & after taking appointment. (Time taken - 20min)

Thyroid Profile (TSH)

Blood is to be preferably collected in fasting condition. Patient is to stop medication on the day of the test.

GCT (As Per FOGSI Guidelines)

In this no fasting required, single sample to be collected after consumption of 75g of glucose.

OGT 50g (As Per WHO Guidelines)

In this 10-12 hrs fasting is required, single sample to be collected 1 hr after consumption of 50g of glucose.

OGT 75g (As Per WHO Guidelines)

In this 10-12 hrs of fasting is compulsory. A fasting sample is collected, followed by 2 samples to be collected 1hr & 2hr after consumption of 75g of glucose.

OGT 100g (As Per WHO Guidelines)

In this 10-12 hrs of fasting is compulsory. A fasting sample is collected, followed by 3 samples to be collected 1hr, 2hr & 3hr after consumption of 100g of glucose.

Ultrasound Whole Abdomen

Patient should come with a full bladder and after 4-6 hrs of fasting.

Ultrasound Upper Abdomen

Patient should come after 4-6 hrs of fasting.

Ultrasound Lower Abdomen

Non pregnant females and females with pregnancy of upto 16 weeks must come with a full bladder. Females with pregnacy of more than 16 weeks duration need not have a full bladder for the test to be conducted.

TMT

Patient needs to come one-two hours after having a light meal. Patient must inform the attending technician/doctor about any pre-existing medical problems. Prior appointment must be taken for this test.

Histopathology Specimens

Samples need to be sent in 10% formalin solution. Container needs to be large enough to comfortable dip the entire specimen in formalin. Complete clinical details including exact site, history, examinatio details, and clinical diagnosis must accompany the sample.

GTT Test

For this test, fasting sample is taken early in the morning. Then 75gms Glucose is given to the patient. After that 4 samples of blood & urnine are taken afer every 1/2hr. Or
Fasting sample is taken early in the morning. Then 75 gms Glucose is given to the patient. After that 3 samples of blood & urine are taken after every one hour.

24 Hour Urine Sample

24hrs urine needs to be collected for the assay, for which a can is provided by the laboratory. The first morning urine on day one of collection is to be discarded. Start collecting all urine that is passed from then on in the can provided Keep collecting urine till the next morning's first urine (including the next morning's first urine). Submit the entire sample to the lab for testing.

X-Ray

For KUB : Patient must have four tablets of charcoal and two tablets of dulcolax after a light dinner on the night preceding the test. A 12 hour overnight fasting and a full bladder are also mandatory.
For Barium Meal follow through, and Barium enema : Patient should come at-leas four hours after a light meal. No eatable or fluid should be consumed in the interval between the last meal and the test.
For IVP : Preparation is the same as in X-Ray KUB. However, one attendant must accompany the patient.
For HSG : Patient has to come between day 5 to day 9 of the menstrual cycle. Patient should come atleast 4 hours after a light meal.

Urine Collection

Routine : Sample for routine urine test can be taken at any time of the day in a clean container. Volume taken-atleast 20 ml.

Culture : Sample for ur test (culture) is best taken early in the morning. Sample taken is the 1st clean catch midstream urine of the morning. In this test, the patient preferably should not have done an antibiotic course or should have had antibiotics 48 hrs prior to the test. In this case a sterilized culture pot is provided to the patient by the laboratory.
